Thanks you guys! I was wondering if staying in Alabama might make good sense. I keep having the song by Ray Stevens run through my head about "The day the squirrel went berserk in the first self-righteous church in that sleepy little town of Pascagoula". I guess "Sweet home Alabama" has a good ring to it! Every time we come back from a vacation right now, Allison Krauss' "Atlanta" goes through my mind. I guess I have too many songs to choose from! LOL! You guys are a big help. Thanks.

A job offer has come our way that looks excellent. However, it is located in Pascagoula, MS. I am wondering how the area is faring since Katrina. Does anybody know this area, and if so, what is your view of it. Are there any small communities close by that have that rural feel for raising kids? How are the school systems?
I have been looking up information on the internet...but first hand accounts are always so much better. I've read a couple comments from people that say Ocean Springs is a nice place for families. Any help would be much appreciated!
Thanks guys!

10 am on a Saturday and guess who's knocking at my door...
by brunnhilde inyeah, a no brainer.
i'm living with my da'd brother and never passed my new info on to the brothers when i left so i thought at first my mom (who is still firmly in the cult) had passed the address on to the local wolves, but apparently it was just the usual saturday morning not at homes being bothered.
i watched them pull into the neighborhood and pegged them straightaway for dubs.

That is so stinkin' cute! I just had the kids come out to see it. I asked them if they could handle seeing a polar attack a man's leg. Their eyes were so wide and round...then I showed them the picture! too cute.Love it.

In laws again
by 4mylove inso the hubby tells me that the fam is having a dinner at one of the restaurants in his hometown for the inlaws because it is their anniversary.
i hate the fact that when they call my stomach gets in knots.. they are the nicest people if it weren't for the jw thing.
it is the only thing i dislike.

Honesty: Love that answer! So glad I wasn't drinking anything when I read it! I gasped with laughter! So to the point! No sense trying to sidestep the issue!

Totally understand that! I just had to tell you how I chuckled while reading the last sentence about your aunt. I read it "moron" instead of "mormon". I had to do a double take. I guess it's too early for me to be on here! Kitten Whiskers

wanna laugh!!! Cute
by purplesofa ina 1st grade school teacher had twenty-six students in her class.
she presented each child in her classroom the 1st half of a well-known proverb and asked them to come up with the remainder of the proverb.
it's hard to believe these were actually done by first graders.

A horrible scary thing happened to my daughter. You won't believe this
by coffee_black inmy daughter was on her way to work last week and stopped for a milkshake at a fast food restaurant.
they were caught on tape using the slop bucket they used for cleaning bathrooms etc.
to empty out the milkshake machine while they cleaned it, and then pour the milkshake mix (in the contaminated slop bucket) back into the machine.. apparently there was also a group of kids from an after school program that had a party there that same day.

I am thankful she seems well now and can proceed from here to better health. I am scared to death for the other kids though and any little ones exposed to this! Kids with any problem could be having severe reactions. Did her doctor contact the hospitals or whatever needs to be done so that diagnosis can made for others who might wonder what in the world is happening to them? Of course the company doesn't want her to say anything! This is the kind of story that belongs on the 6 o'clock news to alert the general public!!!!! Anyone could be poisoned by this! I swear more and more I try not to think what is going on in the kitchen when I eat out. It is so scary! I love it, yet I wonder what I am risking. You know they don't handle food as carefully as you do at home. And as my kids say...The most important ingredient is love!!! Edited to add: oops! I read this so fast and just went back to reread the story. It was on the news. The public WAS warned. Sorry. It is just so upsetting when these things happen. I should take a minute before I comment! (Add embarrassed face here!)

So sorry honey! You are so sweet and you have had it so hard with your mom. She sounds like she's about to lose it and go bonkers! That's how I felt right before making my break from jws. Fear is a major factor in the whole mind game of this cult. That is hard to conquer. I wish you and her all the best. You need sanity and so does she. I hope she finds her place and you are at peace when she does.

I understand what you're getting at with this question. I've wondered why one woman "sister" in my old hall took up the profession, and why in the world her husband let her! She had been disfellowshipped at least twice for adultery, had split personalities and had made her poor husband have to go to the mental hospital for a nervous breakdown. With her history, it sure didn't seem like a smart position to put herself in.
